The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall for about 415 units of the Inclusive Orbit, a spinning playground component similar to a merry-go-round.

The recall, which also affects approximately six units sold in Canada, comes after two reported incidents where children’s fingers were trapped in the gap between the rotating platform and the outer rim, resulting in finger-crushing injuries.

Manufactured by Playdale Playgrounds LTD in the United Kingdom and imported by BCI Burke Company Inc. in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, the Inclusive Orbit features three handrails, a seat, and is designed to accommodate up to six children.

The product was sold through factory representatives to municipalities, schools, and churches from April 2019 through October 2024. The cost of the units ranged from $11,900 to $14,550.

The recalled models include 560-0042 and 560-0051. Playground operators can contact BCI Burke to verify which units are affected.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled merry-go-rounds and notify the equipment’s owner—such as a park director or school principal—to determine whether the equipment has been inspected and repaired.

BCI Burke is offering free on-site inspections and repairs to correct the safety hazard.

To schedule an inspection or for more information, consumers can contact BCI Burke at 800-266-1250, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT, email [email protected], or visit the recall page on BCI Burke’s website at https://www.bciburke.com/recall.

Ensuring the safety of children using playground equipment is critical, and all owners of the Inclusive Orbit should act promptly to address this hazard.
