Cattle Supplements Recalled for Excess Zinc Levels

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced an ongoing voluntary recall of veterinary supplements produced by Ridley USA Inc., based in Appleton, Wisconsin.

The recall was initiated by the company on December 20, 2024, following the discovery of excess zinc levels in two products intended for livestock and dairy cattle.

Excessive zinc in animal feed can lead to toxicity, potentially resulting in health issues such as reduced growth rates, digestive problems, and in severe cases, damage to internal organs.

The first product under recall is the Multifiber Multi-Species Supplement, which is formulated for all classes of sheep, goats, and beef and dairy cattle. This product, identified by product number 72957, is packaged in 50 lb. bags, with 900 lbs. affected.

The second recalled product is the Felton Robot Pellet, designed for lactating dairy cattle, with product number 76319. This recall involves a bulk truckload totaling 24,020 lbs.

The affected products were distributed exclusively within Wisconsin and Ridley USA Inc. has notified distributors and customers by telephone to halt the use of the products immediately.

Although the recall is ongoing, the FDA has not yet classified the event, and no public press release has been issued regarding the matter.

Farmers and distributors in possession of the recalled products are advised to discontinue use immediately and contact Ridley USA Inc. for further instructions on returning or safely disposing of the affected feed.

The FDA continues to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of livestock feed and to mitigate risks associated with excess zinc consumption.

For additional information, consumers and distributors can refer to the FDA’s enforcement report at FDA Enforcement Report or contact Ridley USA Inc, 1915 W Edgewood Dr, Appleton, WI 54913-9719.
