HTRC Recalls 34,600 C240 Battery Chargers Over Fire and Burn Hazards

HTRC has recalled 34,600 units of its C240 battery chargers due to a defect that can cause fires and burns, posing a risk of serious injury and death.

HTRC is recalling approximately 34,600 of its C240 battery chargers after receiving reports of fire and thermal incidents, including one injury. The chargers, which are primarily used for charging lithium-ion batteries, pose a significant risk of igniting, either directly or by causing a connected battery to catch fire. This poses serious fire, burn, and injury hazards.

The affected chargers are black with two blue screens numbered 1 and 2. The model identifier “C240 DUO” is printed between the screens, and the brand name “HTRC” appears at the bottom left corner of the device.

These chargers were sold on various online platforms, including AliExpress, Amazon, Banggood, eBay, HTRC-Direct, and RCGoing, from December 2017 through June 2024. The price range for the chargers was between $65 and $290.

HTRC has received 32 reports of fire-related incidents, including five reports of significant property damage and one report of injury. Consumers who purchased the charger are urged to immediately stop using it and contact HTRC for instructions on returning the product for a full refund.
