Riverside Natural Foods is recalling select MadeGood granola bars due to the potential presence of metal pieces and is urging consumers to return the affected products for a full refund.

Riverside Natural Foods Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of several varieties of its MadeGood granola bars after the discovery of a potential safety hazard. The recall, which affects products produced between January and November 2024, is a precautionary measure due to the potential presence of metal pieces in the affected bars. While no injuries have been reported, the company is urging consumers to return recalled products to the store for a full refund.

As stated by the company, the piece of metal is a small, flat brush bristle, and is highly unlikely to be present in the products. “We received seven complaints out of the hundreds of millions of bars sold, and no injuries have been reported.”

Impacted Products

These products, distributed across Canada, the United States, and other international markets, were manufactured between January and November of this year. Consumers can find a list of specific UPC Codes and best-by dates for the affected products on the MadeGood website at madegoodfoods.com.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the company, Riverside Natural Foods, has conducted a thorough investigation into the issue and identified the source of the metal contamination in the manufacturing process. The company has already implemented corrective measures and tested the updated processes to ensure that future products meet the highest safety standards.

“We have conducted an extensive investigation where the recalled products were manufactured and have identified the source of an isolated issue in the manufacturing process that has been corrected,” said the company in a statement. “The company has remedied the issue and tested the new processes to ensure that any future is fully mitigated.”

Consumers who have purchased any of the affected MadeGood granola bars are encouraged to check the UPC codes and best-by dates against the recall list. Recalled products can be returned to the store for a full refund.
