The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued an urgent public health alert concerning frozen, raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with hard plastic and metal.
The alert aims to prevent consumers from unknowingly consuming the potentially hazardous product.
According to officials, the product is no longer available for purchase.
While no official recall has been initiated, FSIS stresses that the affected product should not be consumed.
The frozen ground beef in question was produced on December 10, 2024. The specific product affected includes:
- Brand and Description: “Turner Farm” and “STOCKYARDS PACKING COMPANY GROUND BEEF”
- Packaging: Vacuum-sealed, approximately one-pound packages
- Lot Code: 241210
- Establishment Number: EST. M2035, which can be found inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The contaminated product was exclusively shipped to Turner Farm, located at 7400 Given Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45243.
The issue came to light after a consumer lodged a complaint, reporting the presence of hard plastic and metal fragments in the raw ground beef.
Upon receiving the report, the manufacturer promptly informed FSIS.
To date, there have been no confirmed injuries or illnesses linked to the consumption of the product. However, FSIS urges individuals who may have consumed the affected beef and feel unwell to contact a healthcare provider immediately.
FSIS is particularly concerned that some of the ground beef may still be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers.
Consumers who have purchased this product are strongly advised to either dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase.
