The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert regarding frozen products labeled as Chicken Curry Empanadas due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen.
The mislabeled product may contain Apple Cinnamon Empanadas, which include milk—an allergen that is not declared on the product label.
The issue came to light after the producing establishment notified FSIS of four consumer complaints received by its distributor. Consumers reported finding Apple Cinnamon Empanadas inside packaging labeled as Chicken Curry Empanadas.
The alert is aimed at protecting consumers with milk allergies, as the affected product should not be consumed. No recall has been initiated, as the product is no longer available for purchase.
Product Details
The misbranded products were produced on November 14, 2024, and packaged on November 20, 2024, and November 21, 2024.
