Walmart and Target Tree Light Controllers Recalled Due to Fire Hazard

Mr. Christmas LLC, in collaboration with major retailers, has issued a recall for about 44,600 units of wireless decorative tree light controllers sold nationwide.

The recall is due to a serious fire hazard caused by overheating in the white wireless receiver that plugs into electrical outlets.

The decorative tree light controllers are designed to wirelessly activate holiday lights on Christmas trees. The product consists of two parts: a colorful decorative lever or switch to turn the lights on or off, and a separate white wireless receiver that plugs into an outlet. The receiver can overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.

Consumers who purchased these controllers should immediately stop using them and return the product to the store for a full refund.

The recalled controllers, which were sold at Walmart, Cracker Barrel, and Target, come in various designs. The Walmart and Cracker Barrel models feature a festive green, red, and white peppermint candy design with a candy cane lever marked “Christmas Light Controller.” The Target product, sold under the Wondershop™ brand, features a square on/off switch box adorned with green, red, and white balls and labeled “Tree Lighting Switch.”

The recalled white wireless receptacle bears the words “Mr. Christmas” and includes one of three model numbers: 39611, 39612, or 39630.

According to the company, there have been 10 reports of overheating incidents, including one report of a fire. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this time.

Refund Process

The affected controllers were sold between July 2024 and November 2024 for prices ranging from $25 to $40. They were available in stores and online at Walmart, Target, and Cracker Barrel, including on their respective websites: Walmart.com, Target.com, and CrackerBarrel.com.

Consumers are urged to immediately discontinue use of the product and return it to the point of purchase for a full refund. For additional information, customers can contact Mr. Christmas at 800-489-6328 or visit the company’s official recall page at mrchristmas.com.
